Help in Crisis

I am available for counselling and psychotherapy on an appointment basis. In between appointments, I usually answer emails and telephone calls within 48 hours, but I am not immediately available in crisis situations.

The following organizations are available in case you need to speak with a supportive counsellor immediately. Some of these are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of these organizations specialize in responding to folks who are in crisis – so please: reach out when you need to. Click on the green links and you will be directed to their home page:

A. Trans Life Line Canada 1-877-330-6366.
This line is run by trans identified volunteers.

B. TheTorontoRapeCrisisCentre/ Multicultural Women Against Rape (416) 597-8808

TRCC/MWAR is a grassroots, women-run collective working towards a violence-free world by providing anti-oppressive, feminist peer support to survivors of sexual violence through support, education and activism.

C. Kids Help Phone 1 (800) 668-6868

D. Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line 1 (800) 268-9688

The lesbian gay bi trans youth line is a toll-free Ontario wide peer-support phone line for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual,transgender, transsexual, 2-spirited, queer and questioning young people (26 and under). The Youth Line also provides online peer-support through the online forum and email response.

E. The Gerstein Centre (416) 929-5200

The Gerstein Centre provides crisis intervention to adults living in the city of Toronto who experience mental health problems. The Centre provides supportive counselling for immediate crisis issues and referrals to other services for on-going, non-crisis issues. This service is a community mental health service and is non-medical. Psychiatric assessment, severe self-harm or suicide attempts are referred to a hospital.
